Countdown 11 Days (The "B" Beta Deadline)

I am so tired and achy and nursing a bad, bad headache.  All of which are the result of the sun and heat.  While I know that both were technically worse last weekend, they affected me less because I was able to hole up in my apartment with the window air conditioner blasting full bore and the blinds completely closed.  Today, however, I had to work.  I enjoyed the time out of the apartment, interacting with others, and doing something with text and words besides my own whims, and it was nice to be depended upon, to be needed and to meet expectations other than my own.  But, I then had to tread home through all that sun and heat, using the oven-like subway and my own two feet (over a mile each direction to walk), as well as pick up a few items at the grocery store on the way home.  And then carry a UPS package up the stairs also.

The headache was in overdrive by the time I put everything down onto the kitchen table.

I closed the windows, turned on the a/c, started some lemonade (with some in ice cube trays for an extra chilly treat tomorrow).

The headache rampaged on.

The sun and heat are major contributors to these headaches.  Back in Florida, they were hell.  I learned to deal with them most of the time, except for the REALLY bad ones, but it was still uncomfortable for most of the year.  Up here they are much rarer.  That also means I am out of practice for them.

As such, I did not make the progress I wanted to make today even though this chapter was churning in my head the entire morning and afternoon.  I just didn't have the energy and stamina to get it out.   So, today's update of The "B" Beta Deadline is much smaller than anticipated.  I will try not to let it get me down.

Current status includes:
11 days remaining until deadline
29 chapters completed
(chapters 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 36, 38, 39 & 40* partially done)
110,481 words
297 pages (single spaced)

*Estimated chapter numbers.

Thank you for indulging... (me).
