Countdown 15 Days (The "B" Beta Deadline)

Not much else went on today besides writing and avoiding the menace that was the heat.  I made decent progress, nothing to be ecstatic for, but also nothing to cringe over either.  Nothing else remotely interesting occurred.  Bland occurrences, however, were a plenty.  In no particular order, they included, but were not limited to, the following:

1) The power fluctuated repeatedly and then snapped completely off at one point, knocking my computer out.  I'd saved often, of course, so nothing was lost.  When power restored a few moments later, I put the battery in so I wouldn't have to deal with that mild irritation again.

2) The breaker for the window air conditioner kept popping so the decadent hubby was kind enough to keep traipsing down four levels to the basement to flip it back.

3) Ordered take-out so we didn't further strain the overtaxed electricity resources of the city or add more heat to the apartment with that pesky cooking thing (stove or microwave).  Though, I apparently had no problem making and keeping hot coffee going most of the day.  O_o

4) Someone rang the doorbell.  A lot.  I had to put on real clothes (not just a long, baggy tee shirt) so I could go downstairs to the vestibule and answer it.  Turned out the person had the wrong address.  I wanted to shut the door and go back inside, but well, she was all sweaty and walking and in work clothes and carrying a heavy, paper-laden bag, so I waited while she called the person she was supposed to be meeting and, thus, figure out where the mix-up was.  I don't know why I waited; she didn't need me for anything.  There vestibule, hall, and stairways are common areas of our walk-up and were not air-conditioned, so it's not like she was even getting cooled off by some vast breeze coming out the front door and hitting her outside.  I suppose it just seemed like the polite thing to do anyways, so I did it.  Unfortunately, when I climbed back up the stairs, I realized that, in my haste, I'd left our door open and a ton of the cool air got out.  Normally, not a big deal.  Today, every cubic inch of cool air mattered.

5) I typed the phrases, "she had orchestrated an old fashioned slumber party" and "Just stake me now."  Those are the first shared quotes of "B."  I may freak out late and erase them from this post.  Who knows if they'll make it to the final version?  I don't want to share anything that isn't for certain going to be in the publication.  It feels like false advertising.  I know.  It's ridiculous.  Hush.  (And I have the sneaking suspicion that I may be channeling one of my characters.  This is what happens when a writer spends quite this much time consumed with their story.)

And now that I've chatted your eyes off, I will get on to the true purpose of these boring posts that have usurped this blog lately... The "B" Beta Deadline update.

Current status includes:
15 days remaining until deadline
26 chapters completed
(chapters 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 36, 38, 39 & 40* partially done)
102,184 words
279 pages (single spaced)

*Estimated chapter numbers.

Yes, I have broken one hundred thousand words.  I'm not sure how I feel about that.  Proud?  Frightened?  Both?  Neither?  There are a lot of scenes left to get through, relatively speaking.  Worries...

Thank you for indulging... (me).
